Grand plans & early nights

I last left off at about 6:00pm on Saturday, after a lazy afternoon, after a nonexistent morning, after a crazy night. Still with me?

Alright, a slight recap, Taylor & I woke up about 2:30/3:00pm but stayed lounging in bed until around 5:00, then we ventured forth, showered & discussed our food problem, mainly that we had none. It is about as cheap to eat out as to eat at home in Korea so Taylor & I have only had a couple breakfasts at home (eggs & warm bread- with sweet butter -as we have no toaster). We decided to go to the local Costco by Mangu station, about a 20 minute subway ride (my Seoul subway app has been invaluable).

We made it there after only a few minutes of directional confusion & walked into the large store. BOY DOES SEOUL HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE! And apparently Saturday is the day to shop! Taylor & I sloooowly wove our way through the aisles & eventuuuaaally made it to the checkouts loooong lines, which luckily moved quicker than I expected. But then we were faced with yet another hurdle...how does one get all the bulk merchandise home? We don't have a car & they don't bag your purchases, rather just motion to the piles of cardboard boxes. A conundrum indeed.

So we did what any native city dweller would...we hailed a taxi, awkwardly loaded our goodies in & (after only a few repeats) were on our way home!

Once home we decided to have a lazy night out (since Friday had been such an experience) & head back to Itaewon & the Bulldog Pub, as well as try out some other small, low-key bars...but alas, at 11:30pm (when the last subway would have been going into the heart of the city), Taylor & I looked at each other & said 'meh'. And then slept.

Sunday we plan on seeing two palaces in the city & I promise, pictures will follow 😄

Much love from SK,

Tea

P.S. Some of the lovely options we did NOT purchase at Costco;

Octopus🐙

Squid👾

GIANT prawns 🍤
